Why Truck Driver Appreciation Week Means So Much to Me

Every September, I look forward to Truck Driver Appreciation Week. It’s one of those times where the whole industry takes a step back to say thank you. And honestly, it’s so deserved.

The funny thing is, unless you work in trucking, most people don’t really think about it. You walk into a store, grab what you need, and don’t stop to realize a driver brought all of it there. From groceries to gas, even the packages on our porches, it all happens because of drivers.

From My Heart

At Be Social, our work is all about telling trucking’s story. But more than that, it’s about the people. Drivers aren’t just “seats to fill.” They’re the heartbeat of this whole thing.

Here’s how I put it when people ask me why I love this work:

“Be Social recognizes the hard work and dedication of the men and women on the road to keep America moving. We appreciate you and love to talk with drivers whenever we're onsite. They help to fuel our passion and drive to better market to the driver demographic.”

When I partner with carriers, my goal isn’t just finding drivers, it’s finding the right drivers. Because every company is different, and every driver is different. When it’s a good fit, everybody wins.

Bringing Petra Along

This year, I brought my intern Petra to her very first onsite visit. I’ll never forget her smile afterward. I asked her what stood out most, and she said:

“Meeting with the drivers, they were so kind and fun to work with.”

That moment made me so proud. Because yes, the trucks are impressive, but it’s the drivers, the people, that leave the biggest impact.

My Turn Behind the Wheel (Sort Of)

I also tried out a truck driving simulator recently. Let me just say, hats off to every driver out there. I managed to score an 88.88%, which sounds pretty good… but trust me, I’ll leave the real driving to the pros. It gave me an even deeper appreciation for the skill, patience, and focus it takes to do this job day in and day out.

To Every Driver

So if you’re a driver reading this: thank you. Thank you for the early mornings, the nights away from home, the long miles, and the work you put in to keep this country running.

From all of us at Be Social, we see you, we appreciate you, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to make sure your story gets told.
